Hours is a small independent company with two partners, Caroline and Jean.
Caroline has sewn from a child and after leaving school worked at C&H fabrics in Canterbury she then left to join Coats Crafts in 2001, and started working in the Co-op, in Sittingbourne. At the Co-op Caroline was able to improve her knitting skills and learned the love of cross stitch. While working at the Co-op Caroline met Chris and Mary and they became the happy team in the Wool and Haberdashery department.
The Co-op made the decision to close the Co-op in 2006, meaning that Caroline, Chris and Mary were facing redundancy, when the news became common knowledge in the town, many of the Co-op customers said that they were worried about where they would be able to buy their wool and haberdashery from as there were not many traditional haberdashers or wool shops nearby. It was comments like this that persuaded Caroline, Chris and Mary that they should open a shop the rest is history
Hours was created and the doors opened for the first time on Saturday 29th April 2007.
In 2016, Chris and Mary decided that maybe it was time to retire, and in the Summer of 2016 a person was found to continue the partnership with Caroline and on 24th October 2016 Jean arrived. Jean has worked in Libraries both public and private, but has always knitted learning at an early age from her grandmother. She has an interest in knitting, as well as the history of the craft, she also enjoys crochet, sewing and needlework.
And of course you are very welcome to come and see us in the shop.
Thanks for visiting!
